Maldon man charged with £7.9k meat thefts from South Woodham petrol station, banned from BP garages

A MALDON man has been charged with stealing £7,900 in meat and deli items from a petrol station in South Woodham Ferrers.
47-year-old Paul Evans was arrested on 1 February by officers from Chelmsford Local Policing Team at the BP garage in Lower Burnham Road.
He was charged with shop theft relating to 49 separate incidents at the petrol station, which also has an M&S Simply Food shop, between 1 January and 1 February 2026.
Evans appeared before Southend magistrates the following day. He was remanded on bail with a condition not to enter any BP garage in Essex.
He is next due to appear before the court on 2 April 2026.
